Diablo 4 Patch 3.1.1 Boosts Mythic Drop Rates But Doesn't Fix Core Season 14 Problems
Patch reduces Pandemonium Fragment cost from five to four while doubling Corrupted Reaper drops, but single-crafted-Mythic limit remains.

Diablo 4 Season 14 will receive its first update on July 14, introducing changes designed to increase Mythic Unique acquisition rates through more abundant Pandemonium Fragments and reduced crafting costs. Patch 3.1.1 addresses one of the most unpopular seasons in recent memory by making incremental improvements to the game's item chase systems while leaving core grievances largely untouched.
Season 14 launched June 30 with what Blizzard coined "Mythic Uniques 3.0"—an overhaul that allows every Unique in the game (of which there are well over 100) to be upgraded into a more powerful Mythic version through the Horadric Cube. The concept aimed to expand build diversity by moving players away from the handful of best-in-slot Mythics that dominated previous seasons.
What Changed
Patch 3.1.1 makes several adjustments to Pandemonium Fragment economy: - Repeatable Glints of Hope reputation reward now guarantees a Pandemonium Fragment drop - Corrupted Reaper drops up to two Pandemonium Fragments, scaling with Torment level (doubled from one) - Upgrade to Mythic recipe cost reduced from 5 to 4 Pandemonium Fragments Additional fixes include: - Added Seasonal Reputation Board to Temis - Deathtoll Chambers always reward at least one Superior Lair Key in high Torment levels - Multiple dungeon, UI, and spawn fixes across Paladin, Spiritborn, and Warlock classes
What This Means for Players
More fragments and a lower crafting cost means players will be able to gamble Uniques into Mythics more frequently through the Horadric Cube. However, the patch does not address two fundamental issues that have frustrated the community: the inability to equip more than one crafted Mythic at a time, and the near-impossibility of finding usable Mythics as random world drops.
Season 14's core problem remains unresolved: with over 100 possible Mythic outcomes from crafting, players cannot target specific items for their builds. Instead, they must repeatedly gamble Uniques into Mythics hoping one becomes useful—a process that ends quickly once a player obtains a good Mythic since only one crafted version can be equipped.
Old Mythic staples like Heir of Perdition, Harlequin Crest, and The Grandfather have become harder to find as random drops. When they do appear, their partly-random modifiers often make them not worth using. Content creator Rhykker summarized community sentiment: Blizzard is making players "work harder to get something crappier than we used to have."
What's Next
Players hoping for more substantial changes will need to wait. The single-equipped-crafted Mythic restriction remains in place, meaning builds are still limited compared to previous seasons. Community requests to allow Mythics created via Resplendent Sparks to also be worn alongside crafted versions continue to go unaddressed.
As it stands, Patch 3.1.1 represents a Band-Aid solution rather than a cure for Season 14's deeper issues. Players seeking build diversity and meaningful item progression may need to wait for future updates or season resets before the Mythic system feels rewarding.
