Diablo IV players on Xbox can dive into Sanctuary this weekend without spending a dime. Microsoft's Free Play Days promotion, returning for the Fourth of July holiday period, offers full access to Diablo IV through Monday, July 7. No Xbox Game Pass subscription is required during the free window.

This marks one of several Free Play Days events Microsoft has hosted for major titles in recent months. The timing arrives as the broader gaming industry faces significant upheaval, with Microsoft's reported plans to begin mass layoffs on July 6 and potential closure of at least five internal studios casting a shadow over the promotional period.

What This Means for Players

Xbox owners who have been considering jumping into Diablo IV's fifth season can test the experience entirely before committing to a purchase. For existing Diablo IV players on other platforms, this promotion does not extend to PlayStation or PC versions. Those on Xbox can use the free period to progress toward seasonal rewards if they create a seasonal character before July 7.
